DYNAVECTOR P75



The Dynavector P-75 Phono Stage is a unique entry level phono stage with several outstanding features that ensures the P-75 will out perform other phono stages costing considerably more then the P-75.

The P-75 also includes the patent P E (phono enhancing) circuit designed by Dr Tominari to dramatically improve the performance of low output moving coil cartridges. By a simple arrangement of jumper settings all conventional, MM, MI, high and low output cartridges are catered for.

The P-75 also has an advanced power supply that operates from a conventional 12V AC to DC adaptor. This adaptor has absolutely no bearing on the sound quality. The P-75 power supply runs at over 1/4MHz. It takes the low grade single voltage DC supply from the ac adapter and converts it to the dual high voltages required for true professional quality audio reproduction. The operating frequency is over 12 times higher than the top of the audio band and it incorporates super low noise wideband regulators in its output stage to give ultra low noise supply rails. The internal P-75 power supply is totally self contained and stores many times the maximum possible energy requirements for the phono amplifiers. This means that the quality or size of the external ac adaptor is irrelevant. Increasing the capacity of the external supply will make no difference to the quality of the sound.

AC power lines create noise. Period. There's only one feasible way around that annoyance. Batteries. Designer Ron Sutherland brings us a new battery-powered phono stage with smart circuitry that allows this preamp to turn on and off automatically, thereby maximizing the life of your batteries.

One of the noisiest components in your home stereo is the incoming AC power. Even if it were delivered to your home as idealized 60Hz sine wave, it would not stay that way long. The audio power amplifier does not draw current from the power line evenly. There is a large current spike drawn when the sine wave reaches its voltage extremes, while at other times current draw is essentially zero. High frequency harmonics and noise are introduced into the same power line that's used for sensitive phono preamplification. The Ph.D. doesn't even have a power cord. Instead, 16 alkaline D cell batteries line the sides of the chassis. After about 800 hours of playing time (roughly half the life of a cartridge), a red light will indicate that your batteries are running low. Replacements cost about a buck a piece.

The Ph.D. turns on the moment your stylus is stimulated. From there, the unit automatically looks for a signal every half-hour for just a fraction of a second. If it doesn't find a signal, it will stay on for an additional half-hour with a yellow light indicating that it is preparing to turn off.

What's more, the Ph.D. has four different loading options and gain-stage settings that are simple to adjust. There's never been anything quite like the Ph.D.

The EAR 324 is the perfect solution for the vinyl-loving audiophile who demands the highest quality and the greatest flexibility. It features perfectly tailored inputs for both moving coil and moving magnet cartridges and offers accurate, low-noise amplification with vanishingly small signal degradation.

It has long been realized that amplifying the tiny signal from phono cartridges is one of the hardest jobs in electronics. Designer Tim de Paravicini has been devising elegant and efficient solutions to the problem over several decades, and the 324 represents the summary of his thinking. A fully transistorized product, it draws heavily on his acclaimed '312 Control Centre' preamplifier in its circuitry but adds flexibility with switchable input impedance for both moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) cartridges. Two separate inputs allow easy switching between two turntables (or two arms on one turntable), ideal for the serious collector who may have a separate deck and pickup for mono discs.

Of those inputs, Input One is switchable for MC or MM cartridges. In MC mode, a built-in step-up transformer (the same as in the Yoshino MC3 standalone transformer) gives optimum noise performance and matches the cartridge through 4ohm, 15ohm and 40ohm windings. In MM mode, impedance is fixed.

Input Two is a specialist MM input with switchable resistance and capacitance loading to optimize response from any high quality MM cartridge. Both inputs feed into a very low noise, low distortion and high headroom amplifying stage which uses a unique RIAA equalization scheme to optimize stability and sound quality.

Balanced and unbalanced outputs with a low source impedance ensure that any line preamplifier can be comfortably driven through almost any amount of good quality cable. Gain is equivalent to 54dB at 1kHz (1.2V out for 2.5mV in, MM) but can be reduced by 6 or 12dB if needed. Absolute phase is switchable and mono operation can also be selected.

With EAR/Yoshino's famed sound quality and reliability assured, the 324 is truly the phono stage of choice for the dedicated vinyl enthusiast.
